Tania and Rob are university sweethearts. They met in their 3rd year genetics class (yes that’s right, they’re extremely good looking AND smart). Their wedding was held at the sweetest little venue that I never knew existed, right in the middle of our beautiful Botanic Gardens, called Gardens House. We were surrounded by bright, colourful flowers thanks to the girls at Pash Flowers and the beautiful Gardens themselves. It felt so private and tucked away from everything and I hope I can shoot there again soon!

Hannah and Mark

Hannah and Mark were married last year but as you may have guessed, I’m a little slow with blogging now that the summer wedding season has taken over my life! So over the next week or two I will attempt to post lots of recent weddings for your enjoyment.

The Melbourne weather has been cruel to us wedding photographers lately, sending rain our way almost every Saturday. But this didn’t stop Han and Mark from getting out there and having a brilliant time in their pre-ceremony shoot. Their ceremony was held in the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens (no rain until it finished!), and they had their reception at Quat Quatta. Hannah looked gorgeous in her Karen Willis Holmes dress and I think you’ll all agree Mark looked pretty dapper himself. It was a beautiful day filled with lots of laughs, followed by a New York honeyoon which I was supremely envious of! Hmm maybe I should start offering honeymoon photography packages too?

I don’t really write about my personal life here but I’ve been meaning to pop a picture up of my little girl Phoebe. She turned 1 last month and she’s pretty much the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Here she is on day 1, and on her 1st birthday. I’m still amazed that someone can grow and change so much in just 12 months! And let’s be honest – she’s the cutest baby you’ve ever seen, right?

Oh boy! Where do I start with this one? I am so excited to share these images with you maybe I will just not waffle on like I usually do. Basically Karen and Stephen got married on a super rainy Melbourne day. Karen wore an amazing dress and I thanked the wedding gods for sending her to me – it’s pretty much a photographer’s dream wedding! I am really behind in my blogging so how about less talk, more photos? Enjoy!

Cosmo Bride

Cosmopolitan Bride magazine features Caroline and Michael’s State Library wedding in their latest issue (Summer 2012). I adore the layout and the way they’ve used the bright yellows to tie it all together. Go and get yourselves a copy! It’s a great resource for planning a wedding and they feature lots of beautiful real ones to be inspired by. And if you look really carefully at the shot of all the reception guests you will spot a very pregnant me!

Naomi and Dave

Wedding season has started and I’m loving every minute of it! And what better way to kickstart a new round of weddings than with this gorgeous couple, Naomi and Dave. I had so much fun at this wedding that I fear I might waffle on too much about it. I’ll try to stay concise!

My day began at Dave and Naomi’s house where Dave and his merry band of groomsmen were preparing for the day. Dave is a musician, and music photography is my other love, so I jumped at the chance to photograph the boys rehearsing a very special rendition of The Beatles’ “Oh! Darling” to be performed later at the reception.

Next stop: the girls getting ready across town. Naomi has a love of all things art deco and many elements of the day followed this style, including her stunning Karen Willis Holmes gown. It’s amazing right? That’s a rhetorical question, because it’s definitely amazing and Naomi looked like an old Hollywood starlet. Her bridesmaids scrubbed up pretty nicely too!

Their ceremony was beautiful. It was held in the same church that Naomi’s parents AND grandparents were married in, and one of Dave’s best friends performed a song written by Dave for Naomi. Yes, my viewfinder was fogging up. I may have gotten a bit teary. Everyone got teary!

After the ceremony we headed over to the Old Bar in Fitzroy, where the couple met, to take some portraits before their reception at Church St Enoteca. This restaurant fit the art deco theme perfectly. It’s a beautiful venue, and like so many venues I’ve shot at recently, the food is fantastic!

I don’t think I could ever get sick of this job. I have been buzzing ever since I photographed Dave and Naomi’s wedding day and I’m thrilled to tell their story in these pictures.

Kristy and Jonathan

Kristy and Johnno’s wedding was so fun to photograph thanks to their charmingly laid back personalities (well, Kristy assured me she was nervous but I really couldn’t tell). The first half of the day took place in Spotswood where Kristy grew up (and where I have vowed to return soon to have breakfast at a really cute cafe that caught my eye in the main street). Kristy and her bridesmaids got ready at her parents’ house, conveniently located right across the road from the church. We kept it local after the ceremony too by doing our portraits just down the road. Told you it was laid back! I love shooting in industrial settings so I was super stoked that Kristy and Johnno were happy to have their portraits taken in the quiet, industrial streets. Their reception was held at Quat Quatta and I was extremely happy to be able to shoot at this venue, not just because my meal was delicious (which is always a plus!) but because my parents were married there exactly 40 years ago, and I’d never actually seen it. It’s a beautiful venue and I’m excited to be going back for 2 more weddings in the next few months!

Beth and Anthony

I am a big fan of Daylesford in winter, which is when Beth and Anthony had their cosy celebration at the Lakehouse recently. As well as several family members flying in from the UK, there was a very special family member present that day: Her name is Gladys, and she is a gorgeous old Morris Minor that Beth’s Dad has just finished restoring. Gladys was the perfect model and most importantly she got Beth safely to the ceremony on time. I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story! Thanks to the gorgeous Beth and Anthony for a beautiful day!
